Recently, Google has produced a new Netbook called “Google Netbook”. The netbook will run the new Chrome the OS, and will feature GPS and a SSD drive.
According to the leak, the Google Netbook will feature an ARM CPU and NVIDIA Tegra graphics processing. It’s reported to be have a 10-inch touchscreen display that is capable of multi-touch (1,280 x 720 resolution), and will be “HD ready”, which one assumes will mean the netbook will be able to play 720 pixel HD video.
Other specs include 2 GB of RAM and a 64 GB SSD drive (which should add $300 to the price right there). The netbook will have Wifi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a GPS Receriver, an undisclosed amount of USB sockets, webcam, 3.5mm audio jack, a multi-card reader, a 4- or 6-cell battery.
Google will sell the device(s) directly through its own website. Rumors persist that the netbook will be launched in the 2010 holiday season, and the cost will be heavily subsidized by Google, as they’ll try to keep the price below $300. Course, it will still take some arm twisting to get the low-end crowd to try anything not labeled “Windows,” but if anyone can do it, it’s the company that inexplicably kept Gmail in “beta” for over five years.
