A concept car was born in the year 2011 with technology-based, Audi A8. With Google Earth navigation system, a 19-speaker sound system, and an internet connection and WiFi network. Amazing. Your car is connected to the internet.
The internet connection is provided to the car via a UMTS (3G) connection if you not available in Wifi areas. The car’s navigation system streams satellite pictures from Google Earth, giving you a (theoretical) preview of your surroundings, instead of the bland roads and streets that most GPS systems give you. Beside of that, Audi A8 will come with a 19-speaker sound system from Danish stereo company Bang & Olufesn, and will bring you a grand total of 1400 Watts of Power.
Then there’s of course the night vision system that’s augmented with thermal vision systems. The pedestrian detection software highlights people and animals and determines if a critical situation is imminent. While Audi was not the first to market with this feature, the A8 brings the optimal solution with intelligent pedestrian detection and dynamic range adjustment based on vehicle speed. How it does this, isn’t really explained.
